CALL TO WORSHIP
We enter the Good Friday story to taste bitterness turned to release,
to touch rough planks turned to smooth linen,
to smell violence turned to the blossoms of peace,
to hear deafening silence
turned to a solemn rest before praise, to see truth as holy imprints
left on our hearts.
The Sovereign One enfolds our bitter ways,
our numb senses, our prickly fear, our mockery,
our religious designs…to transform sin into awareness,
fear into hope, death into life.
* HYMN #135 “Beneath The Cross Of Jesus”
PRAYER OF APPROACH
As Christ emptied himself and became one with us, so may we
empty ourselves and become one with you, O God. Help us now to
let go of all that overstuffs our lives and keeps us from truly
entering into your presence: our foolish pride, our feelings of
unworthiness, our fears, named and nameless, our complacency,
our cynicism, our doubt, our despair. Teach us to find your glory
in the humanity of Jesus and in who we are because of him.
Let us pray together singing the Lord's Prayer . . . (Pg 960 VU)
Our Father . . . Amen.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE
Suffering Creator, we exalt your powerful name revealed to us
in the vulnerable times and places.
When our imagination for peace is cut off, plant us in the
soil of our memories of renewal.
Suffering Creator, hear our prayer.
When there is sharpness in our hearts or in our ways with each
other in community, grant us the means to examine it.
Suffering Creator, hear our prayer.
When your good news reveals the bounds of oppression,
may we rise up as agents of your jubilee.
Suffering Creator, hear our prayer.
When the light of your love exposes the ways that we, as the church,
proclaim one thing and do another, accompany our examination
of ourselves.
Suffering Creator, hear our prayer.
When violence is used to bully your children into silence or fear,
to retaliate from injury, or to attempt to solve conflict, grant us the
vision to see a different path.
Suffering Creator, hear our prayer.
ANTHEM “He Loved Them To The End”
Silence is observed
Please leave as you are ready.
See you on Easter Morning in Celebration!
AMEN!
