ORGAN PRELUDE

WELCOME

CALL TO WORSHIP
Out of the depths I cry to You, O Lord.
    O Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive
    to my cry of mercy.

If You, O Lord, kept a record of my sin,
O Lord, who could stand?

     But with you there is forgiveness, therefore You
    are feared.

* HYMN     #112    “O God, How We Have Wandered”

PRAYER OF APPROACH
Invite us to the banquet of new life flowing from your
generous heart, O God.

    Help us to receive the love which is spread across the
    table of life and into which we are gathered this day.

Call to our hearts in invitation. Take our hands now, we pray,
and lead us toward your gifts as we sing…
Our Father Amen.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Dear Jesus, our Saviour and Lord, lead us to the time
of your passion.

     Lead us to the places You walked and to the people You
     encountered; lead us to your cross; to the place of
     crucifixion.

Stay with us, Lord, as we witness your suffering and listen
to your words.

     As we approach Calvary, we become increasingly mindful
    of our sins and of your incredible love for us.

Eternal God, we confess that we have turned away from you
in our thinking, speaking and doing.

     We have lived for ourselves and have refused to
    bear the burdens of others.

We have passed by the hungry, the poor, and the oppressed.
     O God, we have tried to hide from you and from
     one another.

WORDS OF ASSURANCE
Calvary is the place where you reveal your perfect forgiveness.
     In the midst of your frightening crucifixion, your
     forgiveness abolishes the power of sin and our hope
     begins anew. Amen.

MEDITATION     “Our Providing God”

PRAISES AND CONCERNS

PASTORAL PRAYER

* CLOSING HYMN     “Stand Up, Stand Up, For Jesus”
    Stand up! stand up for Jesus, Ye soldiers of the Cross!
    Lift high His royal banner; it must not suffer loss.
    From victory to victory His army He shall lead,
    ‘Til every foe is vanquished, and Christ is Lord indeed.

    Stand up, stand up for Jesus! The strife will not be long;
    This day the noise of battle, the next the victor’s song:
    To him that overcometh a crown of life shall be;
    He with the King of Glory shall reign eternally.

* COMMISSIONING
    Let us go out knowing that even though God’s provisions
    for us we do not deserve.
    Yet because of the cross, we receive eternal life.
    So let us rejoice within God’s “means of grace”,
    as this is our key to survival,

“Abide With Me”    #436 VU
     Abide with me; fast falls the evening tide;
    The darkness deepens; Lord, with me abide;
    When other helpers fail, and comforts flee,
    Help of the helpless, O abide with me.

Remembering….

* CHORAL AMEN
