HYMN OF CELEBRATION “Jesus Is Alive!”
1. He rode a donkey into town,
Into town, into town.
He rode a donkey into town;
Children waved their palms.
2. Jesus washed his disciples’ feet,
Disciples’ feet, disciples’ feet.
Jesus washed his disciples’ feet;
They learned how to serve.
3. They went to Gethsemane,
Gethsemane, Gethsemane.
They went to Gethsemane;
Jesus prayed to God.
4. Judas betrayed Him with a kiss,
With a kiss, with a kiss.
Judas betrayed Him with a kiss;
They arrested Jesus.
5. The crowds told Pilate, “Crucify!
Crucify! Crucify!”
The crowds told Pilate, “Crucify!
Nail Him to a cross!”
6. He died upon the cross that day,
Cross that day, cross that day.
He died upon the cross that day;
Buried in a tomb.
7. In the morning Mary came,
Mary came, Mary came.
In the morning Mary came;
The stone was rolled away!
8. Mary ran to tell the news,
Tell the news, tell the news.
Mary ran to tell the news –
Jesus is alive!
EASTER MORNING READING (copyright Ann Turner, 1999)
Leader: At Easter, we remember Jesus riding a donkey into
Jerusalem. The people gathered round, waving palm
branches and praising him. But he did not stay there.
People: At Easter, we remember Jesus at supper with his
friends. He broke bread with them and blessed them.
But he did not stay there.
L: At Easter, we remember Jesus alone in the garden.
He was feeling sad and afraid. He sang and prayed and talked
with God. But he did not stay there.
People: At Easter, we remember Jesus carrying a cross.
Everyone knew something had changed when Jesus died on
that hill between two criminals. But he did not stay there.
L: At Easter, we remember Jesus bursting from the tomb.
He rolled away the stone. He greeted Mary in the garden.
But he did not stay there.
All: At Easter, we remember Jesus alive and full of promise!

The sun is up! The Son is risen! Alleluia!
On this Easter dawn, risen Lord, you awaken us to a new life
with you. Open our eyes so that we may see, with new sight,
the good and glorious gifts you have given – the gifts of food
and drink to be served in this morning meal, the gifts of
family and friends seated at the tables around us, the gift of
your presence here with us today. Inspire us with your
resurrection JOY that we might be moved to live lives of love
and peace. May your amazing love and joy be brought to life
